August started off with a bang!
When a Baerg Reunion is held in Iowa you can be sure there will be guns...and competition.
We had a Sunday morning church service in front of grain bins.
Bill and Jeanne were married 40 years ago...so we helped them celebrate.
Young and old...a good time was had by all!
The oldest...
...and the youngest. Kiley came from Mexico with Baby Johan Lopez Baerg.
Next Baerg reunion in 2029. Location to be decided.
We left Iowa and travelled north through Minnesota and North Dakota...
stopping briefly in Mountain Lake to check out the Mennonite museum there.
We crossed into Manitoba at Emerson.
I like that name!
Our destination was Winnipeg to see Aunt Justine.
We spent the night parked at Heather and Don's and then had brunch at Smitty's in the morning with the Aunt Justine, Lyndon, Heather and Don. So nice to catch up with them all!
From there it was westward and homeward, across the prairies.
We spent the night at a municipal campsite in Grenfell, Saskatchewan where we took in a final men's baseball game.
Our next stop was in Lethbridge, where we went out for dinner to Firestone Restaurant to mark our 55th anniversary with just the two of us. The lemonade was good. The service was good. The patio was lovely. The food not that memorable!
We spent a few nights at Waterton Park.
It had been on our bucket list since getting rained out there in 1978.
Glad we made it!

Our next stop was Canmore...
where we rode the Legacy Trail to Banff and back.
It was rather smoky and Banff was rather crowded...
...but it was fun to do it once.

...and on through the smoke to Revelstoke.
Or 'Revelsmoke'!
From there we drove to Kelowna, visited Martha in her care home,
and parked at Kevin and Linda's overnight.
We arrived back home safe and sound on August 11th from another fantastic road trip.
We are thinking it is likely our last long RV road trip!
We have travelled so many wonderful roads together over the years!
By the time we arrived home, Maggie was in Ohio checking into her new campus dorm.
Her cross country track team training was starting.
And Lucy was left behind to work...and play. She had some shifts at the waterslides and stayed here for two days and with a friend the rest of the time. We picked blackberries for entertainment and enjoyment!
A long table dinner at Local Harvest with friends was pretty special!
A fun August get-together.
Dylan took first place at a national scootering competition and was invited to represent Canada at the world championships in Paraguay in October. He already had a European trip planned with friends, so won't be going.
A gathering of the old guys from East Chilliwack happened on our back patio.
They all grew up in this area and attended East Chilliwack MB Church when they were young.
Now they meet for coffee on occasion.
We looked for a cycle route that we hadn't yet done and rode along the dyke from Camby station in Richmond to Steveston, where we had fish 'n chips, of course!
Riding back along the shore as the sun set was amazing!
Brynja was baptized at Anvil Island bible camp. What joy!
And that was it for August...sunshine and smoke and next to no rain!
